The GUE Technical Diver 1 (Tech1) course is an intensive trimix program that introduces divers to the world of technical diving. Participants learn to plan and execute decompression dives to depths of up to 51 meters, with up to 30 minutes of decompression. During the course, you’ll develop the ability to plan and carry out technical dives, as well as manage equipment failures both during the bottom phase and throughout decompression. The training also includes line laying skills using a reel, rescue techniques adapted to the specific challenges of technical diving, principles of effective team coordination, and mindful diving on shipwreck sites.
The course in Croatia is a combination of solid training with a unique diving experience – this class takes place at the Krnicadive diving center, and all the trimix dives will take us to the spectacular wrecks of the Istrian Peninsula.
To be able to apply for this course, you must certified as a GUE Technical Fundamentals diver.
A typical GUE Technical Diver 1 (Tech1) training schedule is as follows:
Days 1–3:
Theory sessions, dry runs, and training dives up to 30 meters. Key topics and skills include:
line and reel handling, managing various equipment failures underwater, stage bottle handling and gas switch procedures, technical diving rescue techniques, ascent drills and simulated decompression scenarios.
Day 3-6:
Trimix dives in the 30–51 meter range, applying previously acquired skills in real dive scenarios — including wreck dive planning and execution, task management and problem-solving, and the proficient use of the pragmatic decompression approach.
GUE Tech1 is more than a trimix course.
