Spontaneous dives sometimes lead to impressive results. On June 29, 2025, we organized a dive on the wreck of ORP Groźny, during which three teams scanned the wreck to create a three-dimensional model. Most of the participants had no previous experience in underwater photogrammetry, but they still managed to scan the entire wreck, which allowed them to generate a complete 3D model .
ORP Groźny – a Polish submarine chaser from the Cold War period, and previously the Soviet BO-347 and MPK-347, one of eight Project 122bis ships acquired by Poland. The ship was launched on May 25, 1951 at shipyard number 340 in Zelodolsk. He was accepted for service in the USSR Navy in September of that year. In 1957, the vessel was leased by Poland and on December 15 of that year it became part of the Navy. The ship, designated DS-48 and 368 during her service, was struck from the Navy List in July 1970. The wreck was sunk near the port of Jastarnia for training purposes for military divers.
The unit’s artillery armament was a single 85 mm 90-K L/52 gun located on the bow, protected by an armored shield. In the stern part there were two single AA guns. Kal. 37 mm 70-K L/73 (also protected by armored shields). In addition, the ship was fitted with three twin mounts of large-caliber 2M-1 cal. 12.7 mm L/79 (one at the bow, behind the 85 mm gun and two behind the funnel on the deck at the sides) . The anti-submarine weapons consisted of two RBU-1200 rocket depth charge throwers on the bow of the vessel, two BMB-1 throwers and two B-1 depth charge launchers. Alternatively, the ship could carry up to 18 mines .
