Wrecks and History of Calabria 2025 Calabria, Italy

The goal

The aim of this trip was to combine fun diving with documenting local wrecks and discovering the rich history of the Calabria region. For some of the participants, these were the vry first technical dives after finishing their GUE Tech1 training!

During the expedition we dived on the following spots:

  • 23.06.2025 : Wreck of Capitan Antonio (2-12m)
  • 24.06.2025 : Pasubio wreck (35-42m)
  • 25.06.2025 : Cosala wreck (35-45m)
  • 26.06.2025 : Scilla Reef (0-60m)
  • 27.06.2025 : Valfiorita wreck (40-60m)
  • 28.06.2025 : Pasubio wreck (35-42m)

In addition to diving, we also managed to visit interesting places on the surface. Thanks to the courtesy of the Megale Hellas diving center, participants were able to visit and learn about the history of the charming town of Scilla and get to know the medieval village of Stilo, along with the unique Byzantine monastery of La Cattolica di Stilo.

What we have achieved

During the dives we were able to :

  • Collect video documentation of all visited places;
  • Make a 3D model of the bow part of the Capitan Antonio wreck;
  • Make a 3D model of the stern part of the Capitan Antonio wreck;
  • Make a 3D model of the cannon and parts of the aft deck on the wreck of Cosala;
  • Remove ghost nets from the anchor and stern of the wreck of Pasubio;
  • Rescue three crabs entangled in nets and one slipper lobster;
